Shiran Basic handed over to Colombo Central Investigation Division for further investigation.

Shiran Basic, a powerful drug trafficker who was arrested in Dubai and brought to this country, has been handed over to the Colombo Central Crime Investigation Bureau for further investigation.

The suspects were brought to the Katunayake Airport from Abu Dhabi last night (14) and were handed over to the Colombo Central Crime Investigation Bureau. Shiran Basic (48) is a resident of Kalubowila, Dehiwala. A red warrant had been issued by the Interpol for his arrest after he fled to the United Arab Emirates in 2018.

He was arrested in Dubai on the 26th of last month and was handed over to Sri Lanka after investigations revealed that he was the subject of an international red notice.

Police say he is facing charges of drug trafficking, possession of firearms, possession of serious and sharp weapons, and being a member of an illegal assembly.
