The Sri Lanka Police has succeeded in arresting 1,093 foreigners suspected of involvement in cyber crimes and financial frauds in 24 raids conducted in 2026.
Police Media Spokesperson, Assistant Superintendent of Police F. U. Wutler revealed this while speaking at a press conference held yesterday (13) to raise awareness about the ‘Ratam Ekata’ national operation.
Accordingly, 573 foreigners were arrested in 26 raids conducted in 2024 and 26 foreigners in 02 incidents in 2025.
However, the number of arrests this year (2026) has increased significantly compared to previous years, with 1,093 foreign suspects taken into police custody in just 24 raids.
The Police Media Spokesperson stated that legal proceedings are currently underway to deport all the arrested foreigners back to their home countries.
