The unrest that broke out in Kuruwita Prison has been brought under control after prison authorities used minimal force to open fire, says Justice and National Integration Minister Harshana Nanayakkara.
At least two people have died and four others have been injured and hospitalized due to this conflict.
Prison sources say that four inmates were initially injured in the unrest that began in the prison in the morning and were immediately hospitalized. Police say that two of the people hospitalized have died.
