The Consumer Affairs Authority has carried out 471 raids on pharmacies across the island during special operations carried out during the first 6 months of this year.
Raids and investigations have been carried out on 362 pharmacies during the period from 01 January to 30 June 2026, and 86 successful raids have been carried out under the special program implemented in the last 2 days (03 and 04) by inspecting 109 pharmacies.
A number of illegal activities have been uncovered during these raids. These include keeping expired medicines and pharmaceutical products for sale, selling medicines without mandatory information to the consumer, violating the rules on entering prescribed consumer information, and violations of laws related to medicines, medical devices, baby products and other consumer goods.
During these raids, a large number of expired medicines, pills, vaccines, syringes, creams, baby products, pregnancy test kits, and other medical equipment and consumer goods were seized and presented to the relevant Magistrate’s Court.
