Cardinals say churches are being closed because people are having fun .

The Archbishop of Colombo, His Excellency Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith, says that interest in religious and spiritual life is rapidly decreasing in today’s human society. He further said that even in the developed countries of the world, a situation has arisen where churches are being closed.

The great basilicas and churches in Europe have now become empty spaces, and the reason for this is that people are spending more time on various hobbies and entertainment activities instead of visiting churches on weekends.

The Cardinal said that due to the decline in devotion and faith in God, man is chasing temporary satisfaction and the accumulation of material wealth, and a society is emerging that forgets the noble qualities of humanity and thinks only about physical needs.
