A test kit to find out if children have used drugs

The government was planning to introduce special drug testing kits through pharmacies to allow parents to personally test their children to see if they are addicted to drug use.

This proposal was presented at the meeting of the ‘Ratam Ekata’ National Steering Committee for Eradicating the Drug Menace, which was held at the Presidential Secretariat under the patronage of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, where the President emphasized that all relevant institutions should implement a joint national plan to eradicate the drug menace.

The President has also ordered that progress reports on the responsibilities and programs undertaken by each institution be submitted to the next meeting of the Council.

Special attention has been paid to preventing drug use among school children
