Trade, Commerce, Food Security and Cooperative Development Minister Wasantha Samarasinghe said that businesses conducted through online methods should be properly regulated. He said this while participating in the 9th Annual General Meeting of the Sri Lanka Retailers Association.
The Minister said that due to the non-registration and non-payment of taxes of some businesses conducted through the online market, legally tax-paying businesses are facing great inconvenience, and that a huge amount of money, such as $780 million, has left the country through such irregular methods in the past.
