The Criminal Investigation Department has requested the Fort Magistrate’s Court to issue notices to Dilith Jayaweera, Mahinda Pathirana, Wimal Weerawansa, Udaya Gammanpila, Sugeeshwara Bandara and Asanka Navaratne, informing them to appear in court for the investigation into the contempt of court.
The Criminal Investigation Department has filed a motion and made this request in relation to the ongoing investigation into the contempt of court.
The investigating officers informed Fort Magistrate Pasan Amarasekara that investigations have been initiated into the incident and that action will be taken to file charge sheets against the above-mentioned individuals before the Court of Appeal under the Contempt of Court Act No. 8 of 2024.
Accordingly, the Criminal Investigation Department has requested the court to issue notices to them to appear before the court on July 1st for the relevant investigations.
