Rathugala’s new Indigenous people Lrader is not a member of the NPP.

The Rathugala Indigenous people Development Society has issued a statement stating that the information published on certain media outlets including social media regarding the new leadership of the Rathugala Indigenous people is false.

The statement issued by the society states that following the demise of Rathugala Indigenous people leader Danigala Maha Bandaralage Sudha Vanniya Atthana, the appointment of a new leader to the vacant leadership position was recently carried out as per tradition.

The statement states that the event was held under the patronage of Indigenous people leader Vishwakirthi Vanaspathi Uruwarige Vannila Atthana and that the appointment of the new Indigenous people leader of Rathugala was made by Danigala Maha Bandarage Nishantha Kumara, the eldest son of the late Sudha Vanniya Atthao.

The statement also emphasizes that Rathugala Indigenous people Leader Nishantha Kumara is not a chairman of a divisional council of the National People’s Power or a member of any other political party.

The statement states that some media outlets are wrong in mentioning his name as ‘Nipuna’ and that he is not a university student. It states that after assuming the position of Indigenous people, he will be known as Atthon or Attho, and that in the future the ”Wariga Sabha” will give him a suitable name instead of the name Nishantha Kumara.

The statement states that he was 26 years old at the time of his appointment and was working at a tourist hotel in the Rathugala area.
