Shammi Silva resigns as Cricket President .

Sri Lanka Cricket Chairman Shammi Silva has reportedly decided to resign from his post. He announced this decision at an executive committee meeting held this afternoon (28).

Two former Sri Lankan cricketers and the players’ manager have met a high-ranking government official and have informed the Sri Lanka Cricket Chairman to resign, political sources say.

The Sri Lanka Cricket Board has decided to revise the players’ payments and accordingly, a new system based on player performance is to be introduced in the future, and it is reported that the players and their managers have strongly opposed it.

Shammi Silva was first elected as the President of Sri Lanka Cricket in 2019 and has served as the President for 7 years since then.
