Deputy Defense Minister Aruna Jayasekara urged to resign

Venerable Rohan de Silva says that Deputy Defense Minister Aruna Jayasekara should be removed from his post in order to conduct a fair investigation into the Easter attacks.

The Venerable made this statement while participating in a program held in Colombo to launch a special report on the Easter attacks titled ‘Memory, Pain and Hope, Seeking Justice After 7 Years’.

The Venerable made this statement while participating in this program organized by the Center for Society and Peace.

“Seven years after the attack, the investigations appear to be moving in a positive direction. Therefore, in order to create the necessary environment for the investigation to be conducted fairly, we request the government to remove the current Deputy Minister of Defense Aruna Jayasekara, who was the Eastern Provincial Commander at the time of the controversial Saindamardu incidents, from his position until the investigations are completed.”
