A plan to start train services from Badulla to Nanu Oya soon.

The Badulla to Nanu Oya section of the Kandyan Railway line, which has been disrupted due to Cyclone Ditva and landslides, is expected to be opened in the next few months, said Deputy Minister of Transport and Highways Dr. Prasanna Gunasena.

The new Cuban Ambassador to Sri Lanka, HE Andrés González Garrido, recently met with the Chief Incumbent of the Malwatta and Asgiri Chapters of the Siamese Buddhist Order, and the Deputy Minister, who attended the event, made these remarks while addressing the media.

The Deputy Minister said that within the next four months, it will be possible to operate trains from Badulla to Nanuoya on the Upcountry Railway Line and from Rambukkana to Peradeniya this year.

Deputy Minister Prasanna Gunasena also stated that all these renovation works will be carried out under the guidance of the Sri Lanka Railways Department under the geotechnical supervision of the National Building Research Institute.
