We are not in this strike. Specialist doctors say.

The Specialist Doctors Association says that it will not support the strike that the Government Medical Officers Association has started this morning (04).

The Secretary of the Association, Specialist Dr. R. Gnanasekaram, stated that his members are performing their duties as usual and special medical services in hospitals are continuing. In addition, he added that post-training specialist doctors will also not support this strike.

Specialist doctors also have various problems, but it is not their policy to engage in strikes at the risk of patient lives, he said.

The Government Medical Officers Association has started a strike in hospitals across the island from 8 am today, alleging that irregularities are being committed through political decisions in the post-internship attachment list and the service transfer list, and has not specified an end time.

Due to this strike, patients who have come to receive treatment at hospitals across the island are facing severe inconvenience.
