Petition against Pillayan’s detention set for hearing.

The Supreme Court today ordered that the Fundamental Rights Petition filed by former Chief Minister of the Eastern Province, Sivanesathurai Chandrakanthan alias Pillayan, against his arrest and detention under the Prevention of Terrorism Act by the Criminal Investigation Department without any reasonable grounds, be taken up on the 18th of this month. This was when the petition was taken up before a three-judge bench today (09).

The Director of the Criminal Investigation Department, the Inspector General of Police, the Attorney General and a group of others have been named as respondents in this petition.
