The Public Utilities Commission says that the current low-quality coal stock may disrupt power generation in the middle of this year. It may even cause a power outage.
This is stated in a report issued on the possible consequences of low-quality coal stocks. The report was recently presented to the Sectoral Oversight Committee on Infrastructure and Strategic Development of Parliament.
The Public Utilities Commission has prepared this report focusing on the problems that have arisen at the Lakvijaya Power Plant due to 9 excess coal stocks supplied by a company called Trident Chemfar Limited and the financial and environmental impact that may arise as a result.
