Sri Lankan Ambassador to Israel Nimal Bandara says that no Sri Lankans living in Israel have been harmed by the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
Sri Lankan Ambassador Nimal Bandara further commented as follows.
“Yesterday morning, Israel launched attacks targeting selected locations in Iran. Accordingly, Victorian Airport was closed at 8.30 am. For immigration and emigration purposes. All passengers left the airport.
Many people who were scheduled to leave for Sri Lanka had to return to their homes in Israel. There are also many people who are hoping to return to Israel from Colombo. They will have to stay in Sri Lanka until flights resume.
A three-day state of emergency has been declared in Israel. Until the evening of the second of March. During that period, schools and other public places will not be opened. Normal essential services will be operating. There have been no accidents to Sri Lankans in Israel.
This situation may continue for another day or two. The last missile attack in this region was this morning. “With the current situation in Iran, there is a possibility that missile attacks will decrease.”
