500 metric tons of rice from Myanmar

The Myanmar government has provided 500 metric tons of rice as relief aid to Sri Lanka to provide relief to the people affected by Cyclone Ditwa.

This rice consignment was handed over to the Minister of Trade, Commerce, Food Security and Cooperative Development Wasantha Samarasinghe today (09) by the Myanmar Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Marlar Than Htaik.

The impact of Cyclone Ditva damaged 20% of the country’s cultivated land and the Myanmar government donated this 500 metric ton rice stock in addition to the financial assistance provided to provide relief to the people affected by the disaster, said Minister of Trade, Commerce, Food Security and Cooperative Development Wasantha Samarasinghe.
