The ICC 2026 20 – 20 World Cup, co-hosted by Sri Lanka and India, is set to begin today (7).
The tournament will begin with three matches today. The first match will be between Pakistan and the Netherlands at the SSC Stadium in Colombo, and is a day match that is scheduled to start at 11 am.
The other two matches will be held in India, where West Indies will take on Scotland in Kolkata and hosts India will take on the United States in Mumbai.
Sri Lanka will play their first match against Ireland, which will be held tomorrow (8) at the R. Premadasa Stadium.
The T20 World Cup is being held for the 10th time. Sri Lanka hosted the tournament in 2012 and India in 2016 as sole hosts.
The tournament, including the final, will consist of 55 matches, of which 20 matches are scheduled to be held in Sri Lanka.
Sri Lanka will be competing in Group ‘B’ of the 20-team tournament, which also includes Australia, Ireland, Oman and Zimbabwe.
