Power over the Central Highlands will be transferred to a new institution.

President Anura Kumara Dissanayake said that a special authority will be established this year to protect the Central Highlands.

The authority will be given the power to formulate all plans related to agriculture, irrigation, wildlife conservation and resettlement, the President added.

The entire Central Highlands should be looked after by the authority and all plans implemented should be approved by the authority, the President said.

President Anura Dissanayake said this while participating in the inauguration of the ”Godanagamu Adhisthanane Sanhinda” national program for the rapid reconstruction of religious sites damaged by Cyclone Ditva. The program began today (27) at the Sri Bodhirukkharama Viharaya in Doragala, Gampola.
