Former Minister Wimal Weerawansa and a group of civil society representatives have begun a continuous satyagraha in front of the Ministry of Education today (12) demanding the withdrawal of the new education reforms and the resignation of Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya as the Minister of Education.
Addressing a press conference held in Colombo yesterday (10), he stated that all parents who love their children can join this continuous satyagraha without any discrimination.
Instead of educational reforms that give children opportunities, these new reforms have introduced reforms that do not give children proper opportunities, and he said that these reforms are being carried out completely as a racket.
In addition, Mr. Weerawansa said that it is a very serious matter that the program to destroy the future of children is also included in these reforms, and that the entire country should pay close attention to this and take steps to save the children’s generation.
