The second reading of the 2026 budget of the Colombo Municipal Council, which is ruled by the National People’s Power Party, has been won by a majority of two votes. The budget presented by Mayor Vrai Kelly Balthasar today received 58 votes in favor and 56 votes against. Accordingly, the budget of the Colombo Municipal Council has been passed by a majority of two votes.
The inaugural budget of the Colombo Municipal Council was presented to the council on December 22, and was defeated by 60 votes against and 57 votes in favor.
