Five police teams have been deployed to arrest former Minister Johnston Fernando over allegations that he caused financial losses to the government by misusing a lorry belonging to Lanka Sathosa.

However, it is reported that the police have not yet been able to confirm the whereabouts of the former Minister and further investigations are underway to arrest him.

Meanwhile, former Minister Johnston Fernando’s son Johan Fernando was arrested by the Police Financial Crimes Investigation Division yesterday. This is in connection with an investigation into the use of a lorry belonging to Sathosa for the activities of an ethanol company that he allegedly owns. The Attorney General has instructed the arrest of Johnston Fernando and his son Johan Fernando in connection with this incident.

Accordingly, Johan Fernando was arrested in Kurunegala by officers of the Police Financial Crimes Investigation Division.
