The current government, which said it would implement the law equally regardless of political opinion or party, is now acting in the opposite direction, said Samagi Jana Balawegaya MP Harshana Rajakaruna in Parliament.
He said that Ashoka Ranwala was allegedly drunk at the time of the accident and that if Ranwala had been tested for intoxication using the normal method after an accident, the truth would have been revealed.
However, the MP also said that there is information that the police were pressured not to conduct drug tests at that time. He further said that the tests will ultimately be conducted after the alcohol intoxication has occurred.
He expressed these views at a media conference held at the Samagi Jana Balawegaya headquarters.
