The permission granted to traffic on the Kotmale Reservoir Dam from Nawalapitiya to Gampola and Kandy via Harangala in the past few days has been restricted again from yesterday.
Speaking to the media, Kotmale Reservoir Engineer-in-Charge Anura Seneviratne said that due to the landslide in the Ulapane brick culvert area on the Nawalapitiya-Kandy main road, traffic on that road had completely come to a standstill, and as a result, light vehicles traveling on that road were allowed to ply on the reservoir dam.
However, the decision was taken after the road was reopened to traffic yesterday, the reservoir engineer said.
Accordingly, only those who have been granted permission to drive vehicles on the dam will be able to drive vehicles in the future, and permission must be obtained if another vehicle is to drive on the dam.
