A hint from the Examination Commissioner regarding the date of re-conducting the A.L. Examination.

The Examination Commissioner General, A.K.S. Indika Kumari, says that they are very concerned about the mental state of the students when resuming the 2025 General Certificate of Education Advanced Level Examination, which was postponed due to the unfortunate disaster situation in the country, and accordingly, she believes that the examination can be resumed next January. She also said that the children will be given the necessary time to prepare for the examination.

The Examination Commissioner made these comments while participating in a television program.

Since it is the responsibility of the department to provide all children facing the examination with an opportunity to write the examination in an equal environment, she said that the date of the Advanced Level examination will not be fixed until the mental state of the children returns to normal.

The examination was scheduled to be completed from November 10 to December 05, but it was delayed due to the disaster situation, and there are still seven more days left to conduct the examination, she said. She added that there are ten subjects where students will have to face both the first and second papers, five subjects where only the second paper remains, and one subject where only the first paper remains.

The Examinations Commissioner said that information has already been collected on the centres and students affected by the disaster and that information will be obtained through the Local Government Directors and Provincial Secretaries as well as the Examinations Department.
