Based on a tip-off received by the Army Intelligence, a consignment of 600 kg of beedi leaves, which had been illegally brought to the country from India and hidden on the island of Sinna Munnakkara, has been recovered by the Udappuwa Naval Detachment.
During the searches conducted in connection with the tip-off, this consignment of beedi leaves, worth approximately 4.9 million rupees, was found packed in 19 packages. Further investigations are being conducted by the Puttalam Excise Unit.
