We took over a bankrupt country, says Science and Technology Minister Krishantha Abeysena

When the current government took over, there were no dollars in the country, and there was a dollar shortage as well as a rupee shortage, says Science and Technology Minister Krishantha Abeysena.

The Minister stated in Parliament today (12) that the government has been able to fill the treasury from a country where the economy was in a state of collapse. Recalling that this is the second budget of his government, the Minister expressed his views on the challenges faced during the taking over of the country.

Meanwhile, the Minister said that investors in the country had come and returned, losing all their investments, and said that when the current government took over the country, it was a country that had stopped.

Krishantha Abeysena stated that from a country that had stopped, it has been able to fill the treasury today, and that the country has now stabilized economically to a certain extent.

“Today there are more than six billion dollars, today there are more than a trillion rupees,” the Minister said, further emphasizing that this success depends on the efficiency and honesty of the government.

He also said that a strong economic foundation has been laid to provide relief and facilities to the people, not just filling the treasury.
