The Judicial Service Commission has decided to revise the qualifications for recruitment of magistrates. Accordingly, it is reported that the qualifications for the post of Magistrate, Grade 1, Second Class of the Judicial Service have been revised as follows.
The Judicial Service Commission has announced 4 qualifications to be fulfilled for the relevant post.
The relevant qualifications are to be a lawyer who is or has been engaged in the active profession for not less than 03 years, to be a lawyer who has served as a legal research officer in the Supreme Court, the Court of Appeal, and has not less than 3 years of service after taking the oath as a lawyer.
In addition, being a lawyer who has served as a legal officer in a ministry, department, state corporation or other government institution for not less than 3 years and has consistently appeared before the courts during that period is also included in the qualifications.
Being a lawyer who has served as a legal officer in a company, bank or institution for not less than 3 years and has consistently appeared before the courts during that period is also mentioned by the Judicial Service Commission as a qualification for the post of Magistrate, Second Class, First Grade in the Judicial Service.
Previously, having served as a lawyer for not less than four years for the relevant post was declared as a qualification, but this time it has been reduced by one year to three years.
