It is reported that the train service on the Upcountry line has been further disrupted due to a derailment of a train not far from the Ihala Kotte railway station. Accordingly, the Railway Department says that 07 other train services, including the mail train, have had to be canceled tonight (20).
An earth mound has also collapsed at that location and it is reported that the restoration of the road is not yet complete. Meanwhile, it is reported that the earth mound has collapsed on the railway line between Kadigamuwa and Balana, making it difficult to even reach that location.
Due to this, the Railway Department stated that the following trains have been canceled for this evening and night.
The cancelled train services are as follows:
03.35 pm Colombo Fort to Kandy
04.35 pm Colombo Fort to Matale
05.15 pm Colombo Fort to Kandy
05.55 pm Colombo Fort to Kandy
08.30 pm Colombo Fort to Badulla night mail train
03.25 pm Kandy to Colombo Fort
18 services have been cancelled today, including the train from Badulla to Colombo Fort at 06.00 pm.
