Wimal evades the Tangalle Divisional Criminal Investigation Unit.

National Freedom Front leader Wimal Weerawansa was summoned to appear before the Tangalle Divisional Criminal Investigation Unit yesterday afternoon, but he has not appeared, it is reported.

Police sources say that although the summons was served at his home in Hokandara, he did not appear.

Wimal Weerawansa was summoned to the unit at 10 am yesterday to inquire about a statement he made at a media briefing regarding a suspect named Puwakdandawe Sana, who was arrested by the Tangalle Divisional Criminal Investigation Unit in connection with the drug trafficking reported from the Seenimodara area.

Former Minister Wimal Weerawansa had appeared at the Tangalle Divisional Criminal Investigation Unit on the 9th with a lawyer and had also appeared at the Tangalle Divisional Criminal Investigation Unit on the 9th and given a statement in this regard. However, since the facts revealed in the statement he gave were insufficient, he was summoned to the Tangalle Criminal Investigation Unit yesterday as well.
