There are a large number of retired public servants whose salaries were not increased in the 2025 budget, and the government is working to provide benefits to them in the 2026 budget, said Dr. Chandana Abayaratne, Minister of Public Administration, Provincial Councils and Local Government.
He said this while participating in the ‘National Retirement Day 2025’ celebration program organized by the Department of Pensions under the theme ‘A Healthy, Healthy and Invigorating Life’.
“We know that there are many problems affecting the over 700,000 retired community. We meet with retiree organizations. We meet with the Deputy Minister, Secretary, Director General and discuss them. There may be problems that we are still unable to identify. “However, the government expects to fulfill its responsibility to resolve your problems,” the minister said, elaborating further.
