Former JVP Politburo member and JVP Presidential candidate Nandana Gunathilaka revealed that the Director General of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption, Ranga Dissanayake, is a member of the Legal Division of the JVP.
He stated this while participating in a discussion on a television media channel.
He further commented as follows.
This cannot be resolved through the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption. A person who was a member of the Legal Committee that I convened is today the Director General of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption. As a member of the party’s Politburo, the Legal Division was assigned to me. Watagala was appointed as the Secretary of the Legal Division. Ranga Dissanayake is a member.
I can take it anywhere you want. I have the signed documents with me. If possible, tell me to take it. Why did you hire such people? To cover these up. Now these are being dragged. You know that these things will come out under the Anti-Corruption Act. That’s why Ravi, Shanila, Ranga, and someone from Customs were hired. They were hired to cover all this up.”
