Former French President Nicolas Sarkozy has been sentenced to five years in prison, foreign media reports. The former French president was found guilty of receiving millions of euros in illegal funds from former Libyan leader Colonel Muammar Gaddafi.
The Paris Criminal Court acquitted him of all other charges in the case, including corruption and illegal campaign financing.
He was accused of using funds received from Gaddafi to finance his 2007 election campaign. Sarkozy, 70, was President of France from 2007 to 2012.
