Deputy Minister Nalin Hewage says that when the National People’s Power came to power, the country had only twenty million dollars and now it has increased to six thousand five hundred million.
He said that his party first stabilized the economy after taking power in the country and developed the tourism industry. Accordingly, this year alone, three million tourists will be brought in and he asked the people not to go out at night as there is a possibility of being hit by a foring lady.
He made these comments while addressing a National People’s Power Party rally in the Galle district at the Samanala Stadium.
However, a few days after Anura Dissanayake assumed office as President, current Deputy Minister Chathuranga Abeysinghe, who participated in an electronic media program, said that when President Ranil Wickremesinghe left office, there were reserves of $6.5 billion in the country. He also mentioned that there were sufficient fuel and gas stocks in the country.
