Minister of Health and Mass Media and Chief Organizer of the Government , Nalinda Jayatissa, requested in Parliament yesterday not to ask further questions regarding the incident of power outage in the country due to a monkey.
He said this in response to a query raised by Opposition MP Ravi Karunanayake regarding the recent power outage.
”The board is making significant interventions regarding the imbalance in the electricity system to find a permanent solution to this. The monkey incident is over. Don’t keep reminding us about the monkey here. The system is looking for an answer to the instability and we will provide an answer to it,” he said.
Minister of Power and Energy Kumara Jayakody stated that the cause of the recent power outage was a monkey hitting a transformer at the Panadura substation, which was met with severe ridicule from social media users.
