A 19-year-old girl has been hospitalized after falling ill after drinking a bottle of soft drink from a restaurant in People’s Park, Pettah.
She fell seriously ill after drinking the bottle of soft drink and was admitted to the National Hospital. She was later transferred to the National Institute of Infectious Diseases and is currently receiving treatment in the intensive care unit.
The Dam street Police have launched an investigation based on a complaint received in this regard. Accordingly, statements have already been recorded from three employees of the restaurant. It has been revealed that the office of the restaurant was sending detergent in bottles for use in soft drinks. The employees have told the police that the detergent sent in this way is similar to soft drinks and cannot be distinguished after being placed in the same bottle.
Therefore, they told the police that a waiter of the hotel had accidentally given a detergent filled in a soft drink bottle
Police officers who searched the restaurant found several other bottles containing similar detergent.
