Government sources have learned that the names of Deputy Speaker Dr. Rizvi Salley and National People’s Power MPs Nihal Galappaththi and Lakshman Nipunarachchi have been proposed for the post of the next Speaker.
However, it is reported that the government is likely to reach a final decision on this in the next few days.
Nihal Galappaththi’s name had been proposed for the post of Speaker earlier as well.
