The National Farmers’ Union alleges that the current rice shortage was artificially created by large-scale rice mill owners.
The president of the organization, Anuradha Tennakoon, points out that they have planned to sell the Kiri Sambha and Samba rice in their warehouses through an artificial rice shortage in the market.
He also alleges that the government has failed to calculate the amount of rice reserves in the country even today.
Addressing a media conference, he said that the amount of rice reserves held by these large-scale rice mill owners should be calculated and the rice crisis should be solved by using military force.
