The court orders to take statement of the cabinet itself in the substand drug case

Maligakanda Magistrate Lochani Abeywickrama today ordered to record the statements of the 18 ministers who represented the cabinet at that time for the case filed regarding bringing substandard medicines and distributing them to government hospitals.

Former President Ranil Wickramasinghe, former Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena and former ministers Tiran Alas, Mahinda Amaraweera, Wijayadasa Rajapaksa, Harin Fernando, Manusha Nanayakkara Roshan Ranasinghe, Nimal Siripala, Ramesh pathirana, who gave Cabinet approval for the importation of medicines related to the then Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella. Deputy Solicitor General Lakmini Girihagama Maligakanda, who appeared for the Attorney General, requested the court to issue an order in this regard, stating that it is necessary to obtain statements from the 18 cabinet members including Pathirana, Prasanna Ranatunga, Vidura Wickramanayake Kanchana Wijesekera, Nasir Ahmed.

The magistrate issued the order allowing it.
