A risk of increase in dengue

The Epidemiology Department warns of a potential increase in dengue cases due to the current rainy weather. To mitigate the spread of dengue, health departments urge the public to maintain cleanliness in their surroundings and eliminate potential breeding grounds for mosquito larvae.

The epidemiology department reports that the number of dengue cases reported this year has exceeded 21,000, with the majority originating from the Colombo district.

While the number of dengue cases and mortality rates have decreased compared to previous years, State Minister of Health, Specialist Dr. Sita Arambepola, recently stated that although 64 dengue risk zones were identified by January this year, the number has since been reduced to two controlled zones.
