The National Dengue Control Unit has decided to use Wolbachia bacteria to control mosquitoes in several areas of Colombo.
The release of this bacterium to mosquito populations is to be done at research level, the unit said. Sudath Samaraweera, director of the National Dengue Control Unit, said that even now, the number of dengue cases reported on a daily basis is increasing.
