Opposition leader Sajith Premadasa’s decision to grant the member ship to the members of the Podujana pramuna parliamentary group, including Prof. Channa Jayasumana, has caused a serious division within the party.
A group of MPs led by Talatha Athukorala has pointed out that the group including Channa Jayasumana, Nalaka Godaheva worked as members of Vietma to mislead the former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, and that the opposition leader Sajith Premadasa will surely be destroyed by joining such a group.
They have asked what is the advantage of the party by entering into an alliance with this group of people who have no political knowledge and mass base. They have pointed out that there should be no injustice to the old members in giving positions to the new members of the party, and the appointment of Dr. Chamal Sanjeeva as the vice president of the anti-corruption force has caused harm to the old members.
