The Colombo Additional Magistrate has ordered the person, who posed as “Vishwa Buddha”, be further remanded until January 29. According to the report, this order was received when the suspect was brought before Colombo Additional Magistrate Pasan Amarasena today (24).
He has been accused of releasing statements insulting Buddhists and Buddhism on social media.
Earlier this person was arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department and released on bail after being remanded in custody and his monkhood has been revoked by the Buddhist Affairs Department, according to the report.
However, the suspect has been re-arrested due to continuing to insult Buddhists and Buddhism despite court orders.
