Dr. Rukshan Bellana, President of the Government Medical Officers’ Forum (GMOF), says that during the administration of the former Minister of Health, Keheliya Rambukwella, there were many frauds and corruptions in the Sri Lanka State Pharmaceutical Corporation.
He further mentioned that although a new minister has been appointed to the Ministry of Health, the previous frauds still exist to some extent.
Although the tenders started during the tenure of former chairman Sarath Liyanage have been canceled , but preparations are underway to re-enforce those tenders under the new chairman.
Although the new minister was aware of this revised tender procedure, he is following a silent policy on the matter . Dr. Bellana states that their forum is asking the minister to immediately intervene in this regard.
He added that the Government Medical Officers’ Forum (GMOF) hopes to brief the President on the current situation in the coming week.
