The electric car concession of foreign workers who sent money leagaly will be extended

The Cabinet has approved the extension of the scheme of granting licenses to import fully electric vehicles to Sri Lankans employed abroad. Accordingly, it is stated that this licensing scheme has been extended till September 23, 2023.

Minister Bandula Gunawardena said this while attending the press conference to announce the decisions of the Cabinet held today (16).

For the import of electric vehicles, migrant workers will be allowed to import electric vehicles based on the amount of foreign exchange remitted to Sri Lanka during the period from 01.05.2022 to 31.12.2022.

It is a proposal of the Minister of Labor and Welfare, Manusa Nanayakkara, to get tax concessions for foreign workers when they bring electric vehicles.
