School transport service charges increased.

The internal committee of the All Ceylon Inter-Provincial School Children Transport Services Association decided to take a collective decision to increase the school children’s transport fees from today, its chairman E.H. Ruwan Prasad said.

He told the media that the existing transport fee would be increased by 10% for short distance school services and 15% for long distance school services.

“Due to frequent changes in fuel prices, it is becoming difficult to maintain this service. Therefore, if it is not possible to maintain a stable price for fuel, the minister should resign. These results are the adverse effects of VAT. “With the imposition of VAT, all spare parts, lubricants and service charges have been increased,” he added.
