Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) Member of Parliament Patali Champika Ranawaka said that there have been cases where both parents have been arrested in several places in the Colombo area by the Yukthiya operation.
He emphasized that this situation is a serious injustice and arresting the parents at the same time makes the children unsafe at home. He mentioned that due to this situation, the children are in a helpless situation where they cannot provide food and drink, and at least they are unable to get legal assistance for their parents.
He said that the end result of this is boys joining the underworld and girls turning to prostitution.
