According to the report, the only surgeon who worked at the Dehi Attakandiya Base Hospital has left the country, so all surgeries at that hospital have come to a standstill.
Due to this situation, the hospital director has informed the health authorities through a letter that 50 surgeries including emergency surgeries have been suspended, but it is learned that no action has been taken yet.
Although patients are referred to nearby hospitals including Polonnaruwa Hospital, the patients are in great discomfort due to the overcrowding in those hospitals.
