According to the report, the Tamil United Freedom Front, led by Vinayagamurthi Muralidaran alias Karuna Amman, who was once the head of the LTTE’s eastern province, has decided to support the current President Ranil Wickremesinghe in the presidential election.
Karuna Amman, who was once the Deputy Minister of Rehabilitation in the Mahinda Rajapaksa government, supported Gotabhaya Rajapaksa in the 2019 presidential election.
Speaking to the media about rhe decision to support the President Ranil Wickremesinghe, he said:
“The President has turned the economy upside down. The value of the rupee is rising against the US dollar. It is a clear sign that our economy is recovering. Because of that, we decided to support the President at our party’s central committee meeting held in Batticaloa yesterday,” he said.
