Heavy rains will occur in Eastern, Northern and Uva provinces from time to time and there may be rains in North-Central Province as well, says the Department of Meteorology. Scattered rain or thundershowers will occur in the rest of the island after around 1.00 pm.
Some places in Ampara, Batticaloa and Badulla districts may experience heavy rains of more than 50 mm and some places in Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and Galle and Matara districts may experience heavy rains of 100 mm.
The public is kindly requested to take necessary measures to minimize the danger caused by temporary strong winds and lightning in those areas during thunderstorms.
